Jobs Landed

In December 2011, I accepted a position with SPARK as our entrepreneurial services connector.  I meet with local entrepreneurs to review their business ideas, and connect them with resources such as loans, grants and consulting services provided through SPARK or elsewhere.  I have a passion for building community and coaching people, especially those who want to make a big impact on the world.

Before moving to Michigan in 2011, I worked in San Francisco at Pacific Gas and Electric on renewable energy.  My experience also includes sustainability-related roles at the World Bank Group, greenhouse gas management at Chevron, an offshore wind developer based in Vancouver, BC, and leading a student trip to China.  To stay active and involved in my community, I serve as vice chair of the Washtenaw Bicycling and Walking Coalition, and I volunteer with other local organizations.

I earned a joint MBA/MS in environment and resources from Stanford, where were I was immersed in an entrepreneurial environment. I received a BA in environmental science and public policy from Harvard, and grew up in Nova Scotia.

I joined SPARK's team as the marketing coordinator this fall. In my new position I will be integral in the development of strategy, content, and design of marketing materials and the execution of SPARK communications.

I grew up and attended college in Michigan, and I don't plan to leave the mitten state anytime soon. When I graduated from Michigan State University in 2009, I immediately began looking for work within the state.

Before coming to SPARK, I worked as a volunteer coordinator for the Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness. I've also worked for the Edward Lowe Foundation in the role of technical marketing specialist for YourEconomy.org. Through my two previous positions I've gained experience in marketing strategy. Of particular interest to me is social media marketing, and helping companies leverage these tools to strengthen and promote their missions.

I recently joined the staff of Ann Arbor SPARK as the new marketing and talent coordinator, a position I found using SPARK's job portal this summer. I'm responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the job portal, coordinating talent events, implementing various marketing strategies, and utilizing social media for SPARK.

In my spare time I serve as the varsity men's lacrosse head coach at Ann Arbor Skyline High School. I'm also a copy editor and occasional contributor to UMHoops.com, a prominent University of Michigan men's basketball website.

I graduated from Michigan State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in international relations with a business cognate.
